Redding, California, is the gateway to some of the finest fly fishing on the continent.  Redding is the northernmost outpost of the Sacramento valley, and we're surrounded by mountains on three sides. Wintertime snows blanket the mountains, and the spring runoff provides us with tons of water.  Leave Redding in any direction except south and you'll quickly climb to the foothills--within a 90 minute drive you'll find more water than you can fish in a lifetime!

The entire drainage forms the Lower Sacramento River, starting just outside town on its 250 mile journey to the Pacific Ocean.   Spring and fall are beautiful here, and while summer brings heat the mountain rivers provide a great reprieve when temperatures in the valley climb upwards of 100 degrees. Pick your rivers wisely and you'll find great trout fishing from opening day at the end of April 'till the season closes in mid-November. But never fear, wintertime is not a season of rest for us!

The Trinity River has mind-blowing runs of steelhead, and the Lower Sac remains open and gives up its biggest fish this time of year.  Basically we're smack dab in the middle of a bounty of year 'round fishing! No matter where you live, if you haven't explored this area, it's time to see what you've been missing.
